Kate's Middleton wedding dress pictures

Kate Middleton looked breathtaking in her wedding gown by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. Her look was completed by stunning jewels and accessories fit for a princess.

I just finished watching the Royal Wedding, which I watched only to see the wedding dress (because why would I want to watch my childhood crush marry another woman?!)
#Grace Kelly seems to be a trending topic on twitter because everyone thinks it’s a Grace Kelly dress but as I watched her walk the aisle I realized it’s a lot closer in silhouette to the gown that Julie Andrews wore in the Sound of Music as Maria when she married Captain Von Trapp (another childhood crush!). Kate’s — or is it Duchess Catherine now, I guess? — dress has the same exaggerated pointy bust-line and deep pleated A-line skirt, without much crinoline beneath it.
My favorite part of Catherine’s dress is the skirt. When I saw her get into the car on the way to the wedding I said to my friend on the phone, “I hope this dress has something really interesting happening on the bottom, otherwise it’s just a boring approximation of Grace Kelly’s dress. When she got out of the car I was really happy to see the beautiful deep pleats of the skirt, and a detail that seemed to be straight off of a Grace Kelly inspired dress that I made: lace appliqued along the entire hemline and seemingly “growing” up the skirt! (That really made me happy–I texted Susanne, my bride, to tell her, “the dress has your same skirt hem!”)

The veil itself is beautiful — but you know what? — the more weddings dresses I make, and the more wedding photos I sift through, the less I like veils because they just obscure the details of the back of the dress. And this dress had something really interesting happening on the back waist! It looked like the top of the train folded back on itself but whatever it did it was quite beautiful.
Sarah Burton did a wonderful job — this dress is just perfect for Catherine; it isexactly her dress. That is the mark of a true couturier, to be able to make something for someone that couldn’t and shouldn’t be anything other than what it is because it is perfectly tuned in to the wearer. I love it!

ROYAL DRESS DESIGNER REVEALED

Billions watched as Kate Middleton drove to Westminster Abbey in a Rolls Royce borrowed from the Queen. Anticipating the announcement and full shot of the Duchess of Cambridge's wedding gown as only her bodice showing on the drive to Buckingham Palace. Billions of onlookers could see the long lace sleeves and delicate neckline resembling a previous royal wedding of Grace Kelly to Prince Rainier of Monaco.
As Kate stepped out of the vehicle it was confirmed that the designer responsible for her wedding gown was Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Sarah Burton was the top choice as rumors spread days before the wedding as paparazzi spotted what they presumed to be the designer outside of Kate's hotel.

William, who chose not to wear a ring, donned a bright red tunic, with a crimson and gold sash and gold sword slings, from the Irish National Guards, a British Army regiment of which he is an honorary colonel. The choice was made in part to honor three members of the Guards who were killed in action in Afghanistan.
The bride's ring was created by Wartski, a Palace spokesperson said, a family jeweler that also created the wedding bands for Prince Charles's 2005 marriage to Camilla Parker Bowles, now the Duchess of Cornwall.
Kate, 29, the daughter of creators of a successful party-planning business, becomes the first commoner in line to be queen in modern times. She'll now be known officially as Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge, Buckingham Palace said in a statement this morning--though the public will know her as Princess Catherine. William becomes the Duke of Cambridge.
The bride's three-and-half minute procession through the abbey was accompanied by a choir singing the soaring English choral "I Was Glad," composed in 1902 by Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry. In a tribute to Princess Diana, the congregation began the service by singing "Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer," a Welsh hymn sung at her 1997 funeral. It also sang "Jerusalem," the popular English hymn based on a poem by William Blake.

Dress was boring, Kate was dull. The girl lacks charisma, there's no worry she'll ever overtake Diana in popularity. Kate copies, she copied Diana for years, then for her wedding she copied Princess Grace, when Grace did it better and Kate is NOT the beauty that Princess Grace was. Didn't like dress, didn't care for bride, but Pippa her sister looked absolutely amazing, she stole the show.

I LOVED it and that is almost exactly how I want to look on my day! I'm so glad she doesn't care about anyone elses opinion and just looked how she wanted. and she looked GREAT!! Who cares what all these 'fashion' people think ahhh I just love it!! I really hope that in America sleeves will become popular. :)

It was very nice. And I mean that in the bad sense. Everything walked right up the middle--lace with a pattern not too big, or too small, not too much lace, not a tiny amount (or none! That would have actually been innovative!) just a boring, medium amount. We want Grace Kelly's look--long sleeves--but we DON'T want Grace Kelly's look--put a boring V shape in the neckline. It put me to sleep.

the dress was very well executed the structure was perfect for the design....akthough no WOW factor was achived.. the 3 biggest mistakes; 1) silk tulle its the most exquisite material but too heavy and smashed her hair... and she needed a more importan tiara to complete the fairy tale princes look like the fife tiara.... 2)the patern formed for the skallops in the top of the dress were not really nice.. look like they have to work with an existing piece of lace a remanet and with no posibiliti of create a lace specially for the design.... 3) her bouquet didnt do anything for the look.

If Kate weren't a natural beauty, I'd be yawning even more than I did at 3:00 a.m....

Yes, I too thought the dress was BORING and looks like it was off the rack. There was no froth, no WOW factor at all. I think the veil was to short and to plain. Even the tiara was boring. I did not expect some gaudy thing but a little 'take your breath' away factor would of been nice. It does look like a David Bridal shop gown...I fail to see the magnificence of the dress and the veil was as common as well, a commoner..

The dress was too plain for the occasion. It's a dress anyone could wear. There was no wow factor. Bigger, more detailed could still have been elegant. Disappointing.

The dress was regal, elegant, tasteful and totally perfect for such a lovely Duchess. May she have better luck than Diana and I pray the paparazzi leave them alone and allow them to have some private time.

I liked the simple elegance of Kate's dress. Not overdone with too much lace and pearls... Simple and Elegant...like the Woman wearing it...

I loved the simple elegance of the gown. It wasn't gaudy and overdone with lace and pearls... Simple and Elegant...just like the woman wearing it.
