Mohsin Ali’s collection entitled ‘Fables and Dreams’ at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2011 Lahore was inspired by the designer’s belief in Pakistan’s rich historic and urban culture reflected in its intricate local hand embroideries. For “Fables and Dreams” Mohsin translated these embroideries into a modern, chic collection based in color blocking. The collections’ cuts included structured modern outerwear with inner draperies which create a strong juxtaposition of masculinity and femininity with the right balance. The fabrics used in this collection were woolen, cotton linen & jersey with cotton, embellished with woolen thread based local hand embroidery work.
Talking about his collection the designer said “I wanted to give a glimpse of the urban gypsy, someone who weaves a tale of the big city and its hidden treasures. By incorporating a fun color palette of bright pop hues and treating fabric with structured tailoring versus luxurious drapes, I wanted to reflect a youthful city-survivor-chic and a sense of joie de vivre to today's fashion scene”.
